There are exciting opportunities in the Fresno State Police Department. Sworn and non-sworn personnel are provided the opportunity to interact and serve a very diverse, well educated community.

The Fresno State Police Department serves a campus community of approximately 25,000. Fresno State’s 388-acre main campus and its 1,011-acre University Farm are located at the northeast edge of Fresno, California, at the foot of the majestic Sierra Nevada mountain range. The surrounding San Joaquin Valley is one of the richest agricultural areas in the world, and Fresno is the fifth largest city in California. The university is within an hour’s drive of many mountain and lake resorts and within a three to four hour drive of both Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Fresno State Police Officers are sworn peace officers as defined per Penal Code Section 830.2(c), and Education Code Section 89560.

All Fresno State Police Officers are certified through the California Commission on Peace Officers Standards & Training (POST).

Fresno State Police Department Community Service Specialists (CSS) are non-sworn employees who provide traffic control during peak congestion times on campus, enforce parking regulations to protect the stalls of those who have paid for parking, assist visitors with campus information, assist disabled individuals with transportation around campus, provide safety escorts, and assist with securing campus buildings.

Student assistants are an integral part of the Fresno State Police Department.  They have an opportunity to gain real life experience working in a law enforcement environment.
