Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC)
The Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) provides institutional review of research involving biohazardous material, including recombinant DNA, pathogenic agents, and transgenic plants and animals in compliance with the requirements of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The main purpose of the IBC is to reduce the risk of potential occupational exposure and environmental harm from the use of biohazardous materials in research and teaching at California State University, Fresno. Thus, the IBC is responsible for the establishment, monitoring and enforcement of policies and guidelines for use of biohazardous materials set forth by the NIH.
