Use this guide to better understand which bin is appropriate for your waste.
Co-located outdoor bins are painted blue and gray for easy recognition. Grey and blue
bins are co-located around campus to make throwing away your disposables convenient
and easy.
A new pilot program in the Science II building is underway to increase diversion rates
and decrease contamination.
Fresno State is piloting a waste stream initiative in Science II that will use co-located
waste stations conveniently sited in common spaces and corridors as the only bins
for waste collection. Classroom bins and office bins will be removed. Benefits of
this system include improved waste diversion and contamination rates. Individuals
also become more mindful about their waste habits. Labels on bins and large hallways
posters identify specific items for each bin: recycling, landfill, and organics.
Remember: liquids don't belong in any bin and should be disposed of prior to throwing
away a container.
